Can Probiotics Help Prevent Panic Attacks?

A recent study published in the Proceedings of The National Academy of Sciences claims that recent experiments in mice showed that when given probiotics, mice have their anxiety level reduced when placed in stressful situations.

One of the primary conclusions of the study shows the connection between the gut and the brain. The vagus nerve is what connects the two, and when mice had it cut they didn’t respond any differently than the mice that didn’t receive any pro-biotics.

Of course nobody knows how this will relate to humans, but it’s worth trying if you constantly suffer panic attacks. Heck, even if you think it’s working, that’s good enough as anything, real or not, that helps you reduce your panic attacks is a positive.
